2nd ICC YAF Global Conference
The ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF) will organise its 2nd Global Conference in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro on 11-13 December 2009. While enjoying the lively city of Rio de Janeiro, the participants will attend seven hours of interactive academic training disseminated over the week-end and have the opportunity to exchange experiences with in-house counsel, lawyers and members of the ICC Court Secretariat. |

An IBA/ICC Event in India
The first ever joint
event organized by the ICC International Court of Arbitration and the
International Bar Association in India entitled “Arbitration in the 21st
Century - Making it Work” will take place in New Delhi on 4-6 December
2009. The conference opened by The Hon Justice K G Balakrishnan,
Chief Justice of India, features moderators and speakers selected amongst the
most prominent arbitrators and legal practitioners in the field. |

The ICC Institute of World Business Law is holding a PIDA Training on 28 September -1 October, in Paris, to familiarize legal professionals with the very latest practices in international commercial arbitration. Mock ICC Court Plenary Session in Seoul
On 23 June 2009, in Seoul (Korea), the ICC International Court of Arbitration will organise a mock ICC Court plenary session where the Court is called upon to decide challenges to arbitrators serving in ICC cases. The session will be chaired by John Beechey

ICC Institute launches its first annual Masterclass for Arbitrators
This Advanced level training will provide participants with an opportunity to reinforce their knowledge of the fundamentals of international commercial arbitration and to learn about the latest developments and best practices related to serving as an international arbitrator. Participants will have the rare opportunity to learn firsthand from leading practitioners and to develop helpful contacts with arbitration practitioners from around the world. The course will consist of presentations and interactive discussions using mock cases designed to hone participants’ understanding of critical theoretical concepts while also emphasizing many practical aspects involved in conducting an international arbitration. It will take place on 22-24 June 2009, in Paris.

Cook Islands join New York Convention
This month saw the accession of the Cook Islands to the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. Their accession on 12 January means that the Convention will enter into force with respect to the Cook Islands on 12 April 2009. Continuing growth for ICC in 2008
