The Commission on Environment and Energy

  • develops and promotes world business positions on major policy issues in the field of energy, environment and sustainable development, focussed on the intergovernmental agenda and in particular on the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg
  • provides leadership and facilitate global business preparation for the Johannesburg summit, including support for the 'Business Action for Sustainable Development' (BASD) initiative, in cooperation with WBCSD
  • continues to elaborate multi-sectoral business policy positions for submission to the international climate change negotiations leading up to the 8th Conference of the Parties (COP8) in 2002
  • will finalize ICC's study of business perspectives on energy challenges in the 21st century
