Vertical and conglomerate mergers

Summary of the Issue

The work of ICC has covered a variety of merger issues in the past in the context of the EU, the US and the ICN. The Commission on Competition is currently specifically engaged in considering the issue of vertical and conglomerate mergers through a task force dedicated to this project.

The EC's Directorate General for Competition previously issued guidelines on horizontal mergers, and is now reviewing the possibility of issuing guidelines on vertical and conglomerate mergers.
