
KIM J. AMBLER
As the principal of the Helix Policy Group, Kim Ambler consults with international firms and foundations on Information Technology and Cybersecurity issues.
Mr. Ambler addresses the impact of International policy issues on business operations
and identifies effective policy strategies across state, federal, and international domains
Kim Ambler initiated and led the international, federal, and state public Information Technology policy activity for the Boeing Company. In that role Mr. Ambler developed and guided cross-disciplinary policy teams of IT managers, technologists, attorneys, and lobbyists. Mr. Ambler was responsible for vetting the business impact of key IT policy issues on Boeing’s legal, engineering, and government relations communities, as well as recommending strategy to Boeing leadership.
Prior to these responsibilities, Mr. Ambler was Manager Telecommunications Policy, and founded the federal telecommunications policy function at Boeing's Washington D.C. office.
Mr. Ambler successfully brought Boeing IT policy issues forward into state, federal, & international associations and coalitions. In that role, Mr. Ambler was invited to be the Vice Chair of the USCIB (U S Council for International Business) as well as the Vice Chair of the eBITT Commission (eBusiness, Information Technology, & Telecommunications) at the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). Mr. Ambler succeeded in winning Boeing approval for funding the ICC BASIS, as well as encouraging fellow ICC member companies to join BASIS.
Mr. Ambler also advised & coordinated messaging with Boeing IT engineers in technical organizations such as the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) and the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
While pursuing his graduate studies, Kim Ambler held the position of
Telecommunications Coordinator for NARUC's (National Association of Regulatory & Utility Commissioners) Western Conference of Public Service Commissioners. Mr. Ambler was instrumental in setting up the ROC (Regional Oversight Committee) of western state commissioners that continues to this day.
Mr. Ambler holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College.
