Christiaan van der Valk
CEO, TrustWeaver
Christiaan co-founded TrustWeaver, a
Sweden-based provider of innovative software-as-a-service IT compliance
solutions servicing many of the world’s largest corporations, in 2001. He was
elected a World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Leader for Tomorrow in 2000. Christiaan
studied law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and has both Dutch and
French nationality.
From 1995 until 2001, he worked at ICC’s Paris-based
secretariat, the last years as Deputy Director of Policy and Business
Practices. During his time at ICC, Christiaan has also directly managed policy
and self-regulatory activities relating to e-business, telecom and IT.
Christiaan has been closely involved with international and European legal, policy
and standards projects in the fields of e-commerce and in particular security, contracting,
privacy and e-signatures.
He continues to give countless presentations and
lectures on these and related topics. He is a core member of the CEN E-Invoicing
Workshop and has in the past fifteen years been an invited expert or member in
a number of European Commission expert and focus groups. As an adviser to the
Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry, he authored the 2001 Asia-Europe
Meeting (ASEM) E-Commerce Principles.
Christiaan co-chairs the ICC EBITT
Commission’s Task Force on Security and Authentication. He also sits on the
Supervisory Board of the .nl domain registry foundation (SIDN), and is a member
of the Executive Board of the Dutch ENUM Foundation.
