Business & Industry Forum

The Business and Industry Forum contributes to the development of a 10-year framework on Sustainable Consumption and Production

A first Business and Industry Forum was established during the Third International Expert Meeting on the Marrakech Process in Stockholm in 2007 by the International Chamber Commerce (ICC) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). The Forum serves as a platform to discuss the role of business in promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and to ensure business input in the Marrakech Process.

Business gives guidance to UNEP/ UNDESA through the Marrakech Process Advisory Committee

As a result of the Third International Expert Meeting 2007, business and industry is represented through ICC in the Marrakech Process Advisory Committee. The committee encompasses experts drawn from all regions and key stakeholder groups to provide guidance to UNEP and UNDESA in developing and implementing the Marrakech Process on Sustainable Consumption and Production.

Business can get regional and internationally involved in activities shaping the Marrakech Process

Business can be further engaged in the Marrakech Process by:

  • Engaging in the regional and international meetings and implementation of concrete projects;
  • Sharing business cases for SCP and best practices;
  • Participating in Task Forces
  • Supporting work on involvement of small and medium enterprises
